For the fourth consecutive year, Adams and Reese attorneys Lucian Pera and Jeff Smith were featured among “The Power Players 2013” by Memphis Magazine in the publication’s “Who’s Who in Memphis Business” special section in the April 2013 issue.

The MBQ’s 2013 Power Players issue is an annual review of “Who’s Who” in the world of Memphis business. Pera was recognized in Business Litigation Law, while Smith was recognized in Employment Law. The selection of the “Power Players” was the result of MBQ staff meetings and consultation with industry experts and several discussions with the key players themselves in the selected fields.

The MBQ is published four times a year by Contemporary Media and has 25,000 readers per issue.

At Adams and Reese, Pera focuses his practice on commercial litigation, legal ethics and lawyer professional responsibility work, and media law. Pera writes and speaks frequently, both nationally and in Tennessee, on legal ethics and professional responsibility and media law, and conducts presentations and seminars for national audiences.

Pera serves as Treasurer of the American Bar Association, and has a long record of service to the profession having served on the ABA Board of Governors, in the ABA House of Delegates, and as a member of the Ethics 2000 Commission that revised the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, which are now the model for the lawyer ethics rules in virtually every American jurisdiction. Pera also formerly chaired the ABA Board of Governors Finance Committee and the ABA Standing Committee on Technology and Information Systems, and has been a member of the ABA House of Delegates, primarily representing the Tennessee Bar Association, for all but three years since 1991.

At Adams and Reese, Smith serves as Partner in Charge of the firm’s Memphis office. Smith’s representative clients include construction, agriculture, heavy and industrial equipment distribution companies, franchisees and dealerships, primarily for legal counsel on corporate, contractual and employment matters, as well as franchise/dealership issues and disputes. He also represents health care companies, and general contractors and sub-contractors in construction disputes.

Smith was a member of the 2011-2012 class of Leadership Memphis Executive Program, which informs, involves and inspires business leaders toward more effective community leadership within the Memphis area.

In addition to participating in Leadership Memphis, Smith was selected as a board member of the Tennessee Justice Center, a nonprofit public advocacy organization that helps low-income families in need through shaping public policy and securing health care access, assistance and food aid. In 2011, Smith was named “Pro Bono Attorney of the Year” by the Tennessee Justice Center.
