Adams and Reese New Orleans Partner Laurie Briggs Young has been named among the 2016 “Women of the Year” Class by New Orleans CityBusiness Newspaper. The honor recognizes top New Orleans businesswomen, highlighting their professional accomplishments and community contributions. Young will be recognized along with 49 fellow honorees at the 2016 “Women of the Year” Awards luncheon Nov. 3rd at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans. She will also be profiled in a special “Women of the Year” insert appearing in the Nov. 11th issue of CityBusiness.
Now in their 18th year, the New Orleans CityBusiness “Women of the Year” Awards recognize 50 top businesswomen in New Orleans who are making notable contributions to both the local business community and society at large. This year marks Young’s second time as a “Women of the Year” honoree. She was previously honored in 2012. Young represents a number of Adams and Reese attorneys and staff who have received the award in previous years including attorneys Courtney Miller, Debbie Rouen, Leslie Lanusse, Jaimmé Collins, Elizabeth Roussel, Lara White, and Jane Raiford along with Human Resources Director Linda Soileau and Chief Marketing Officer Ann Wallace.
At Adams and Reese, Young is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group in the New Orleans office. She focuses her practice on the litigation of maritime and energy, labor and employment, and general litigation matters. Young has defended claims in many venues including state and federal courts, and the office of administrative law judges. She works diligently with her clients to contemplate and prevent future litigation.
In the community, Young has been active as a member of the Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans' Board of Governors since 2012 and serves on its Executive Committee. She is also involved in fundraising efforts for other non-profits serving students, such as Children's Bureau of New Orleans, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Greater New Orleans, and community organizations such as Jefferson Performing Arts Society.
Young was also recognized in 2013 among Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law's “Women in Law” honorees. The award honored Loyola Law alumnae who have demonstrated professional achievement in the practice of law as well as a strong involvement in the community.
