Attorneys and staff in the Adams and Reese Sarasota office helped bring holiday cheer to residents of the nearby Pines of Sarasota Rehabilitation and Senior Care Community by hosting a holiday tree-trimming party at the facility Nov. 30. The event was an initiative of the Adams and Reese HUGS employee volunteer program, through which firm employees donate volunteer time and financial resources to partner organizations in need across the firm’s regional footprint. Pines of Sarasota is a 25-acre, not-for-profit rehabilitation and senior care community that provides rehabilitation and skilled nursing services along with assisting living, memory care and educational programs for residents in the Sarasota area.

“Each December and throughout the year, our Sarasota team members look forward to partnering with community organizations in need on philanthropic projects that allow us to give back to our community,” said Jason Gaskill, Adams and Reese Sarasota office Partner in Charge. “This year, we were proud to partner with Pines of Sarasota for one of our HUGS holiday projects. We really enjoyed spending time with the residents and staff of Pines of Sarasota, making new friends, and together, celebrating a joyful start to the holiday season.”

For the tree-trimming event, Adams and Reese employees donated a new Christmas tree along with new decorations to the center, provided holiday treats of cake and hot chocolate, and gifted stockings filled with self-care necessities to each of the center’s 45 current residents. Party-goers enjoyed decorating the tree against a backdrop of favorite holiday songs, dining on refreshments, sharing stories and getting into the holiday spirit.

“We are grateful for the support of the attorneys and staff at Adams and Reese, and for their commitment to nonprofit organizations like ours throughout our community,” said Pines of Sarasota President and CEO John Overton. “Their visit meant so much to our residents, who loved spending time with the entire team.”

Founded in 1988, the Adams and Reese’s HUGS program (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support) serves as the firm’s employee volunteer program. Through HUGS, attorneys and staff across the firm’s regional footprint have donated volunteer time and financial resources to more than 200 partner organizations in various philanthropic projects throughout the year. Attorneys also perform at least 20 hours of pro bono work annually as part of the CA&RE (Caring Adams and Reese Employees) pro bono initiative.
