In conjunction with “September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month,” the Adams and Reese Tallahassee office raised $4,850 for CURE Childhood Cancer, started in 1975 and dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding targeted research and through support of patients and their families.

Adams and Reese paralegal Vakesha Gordon organized the fundraiser activities for the firm, which included a car wash, bake sale and gold bow sale.

Every year, an estimated 263,00 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide, and childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the U.S.

As a result of research funded by CURE, several new therapies and drugs continue to be tested at Emory, the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and other prominent institutions nationwide.

CURE Childhood Cancer is one of the more than 200 organizations that the Adams and Reese employee volunteer program, also known as HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support), donates thousands of hours and untold dollars to offer communities “hands on” activities and assistance to those less fortunate. Whether in the form of special events or participation in agency-sponsored fundraisers, Adams and Reese employees and attorneys are known throughout the region and the nation for their community action.
