Adams and Reese’s Columbia-based associate Justine M. Tate was one of the 62 individuals named to Leadership Columbia, a Columbia Chamber program for emerging and existing leaders in the Midlands, Class of 2018.

Founded in 1972, the program engages a 10-month curriculum including monthly class-day sessions, a retreat, a class project and a variety of enrichment activities around the area. Since its inception, Leadership Columbia has celebrated more than 1,900 graduates.

Tate joined Adams and Reese in 2016 and the litigator formerly with the South Carolina Department of Revenue focuses her practice on general litigation. In the legal community, she is a former vice-chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Government, Military and Public Sector Lawyers Committee. Tate has volunteered with the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Pro Bono Program, an initiative of the South Carolina Attorney General’s office, and is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Richland County Bar Association and South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.

In the local community, Justine served as Co-Director of The Hand Up Campaign, helping spearhead fundraising and marketing initiatives for Hannah House, a transitional shelter for women in downtown Columbia. She also serves on the board of Children’s Chance of South Carolina, which provides non-medical financial assistance to families who have children with pediatric cancer.

A magna cum laude graduate with a bachelor of science in political science from the University of Scranton in 2007, Tate received her J.D. from New York Law School in 2013.
