Adams and Reese is pleased to announce that Michael A. Berson has joined the firm’s Mobile office as an Associate. Berson formerly served as Director of Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel of the National Small Business Association in Washington DC, and he brings 10 years of experience in a variety of litigation areas including real estate, corporate and family law, and has represented clients in bankruptcy matters, lease negotiations, and on Capitol Hill.

Berson’s bankruptcy matters, range from Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings to lease negotiations and new business formation. During his stint with the National Small Business Association, he oversaw all legislative activities including prioritization of issues, development of policy positions, and formulation of strategies to advance small business interests to Congress and the White House with respect to all economic development, energy, environmental and regulatory affairs matters. Berson formulated and implemented federal policy and legislative strategies for defense, telecommunications, higher education and government clients on Capitol Hill and within governmental agencies.

Berson formerly clerked for The Honorable John R. Lockett, 13th Judicial Circuit in Mobile.

Berson is admitted to practice in both Alabama and Georgia. He earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in 2006. He was a board member of the Cordell Hull Speakers’ Forum. He received his B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of Florida in 2002.
