Adams and Reese is proud to announce that C. Britton Bonner, Partner In Charge of the firm’s Mobile office, has been named Economic Development Team Leader for the multidisciplinary firm. Bonner now leads the Economic Development Team throughout Adams and Reese’s 16 offices across 15 markets in seven states and Washington, D.C.
“I am honored to lead a very talented group of attorneys as we continue to solidify our firm’s strong reputation as a 'go-to firm' for economic development projects in the Southeast,” Bonner said following his appointment. “Helping the team build on our track record of representing public and private sector clients in a variety of economic development projects throughout the Southeast is truly exciting,”
Bonner hopes to continue the growth of this recognized practice area for Adams and Reese. In 2015, the firm was named a leading economic development law firm by Southern Business and Development Magazine and was recognized in its series coverage of the “Best of Economic Development in the American South.”
In his law practice, Bonner focuses on economic development, governmental affairs and business growth. He handles a wide range of practice matters including state and federal government relations, public finance and incentives, aviation, maritime and admiralty matters, and complex commercial matters.
Bonner has negotiated all aspects of economic development projects, from the initial idea to the final product. He has also created, implemented and represented cooperative and statutory improvement districts for retail, commercial and industrial development sites and aided in forming municipal historic districts for preservation purposes and tax improvement districts for economic growth initiatives. Bonner regularly represents municipalities, universities, governmental agencies and boards in all aspects of daily operations and economic development efforts. Because his practice combines both traditional economic development as well as governmental relations work, Britton spends a significant amount of time in both Montgomery and in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Bonner has long been active in community efforts and serves on the boards for several community organizations in southwest Alabama. He is also currently serving as the Vice-Chairman of the Coastal Alabama Partnership and as Vice-Chair for Economic Development for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a past chairman of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity of Baldwin Country.
An accomplished attorney, Bonner has been listed multiple times as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine, has been named as a “Top 40 Under 40” by Mobile Bay Magazine and is currently a member of Leadership Alabama.
