Adams and Reese Partner Tom Dart, in the Firm’s Sarasota office, has been named to the Executive Council for the Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar. The Trial Lawyers Section has more than 6,000 members who consist of plaintiffs, defense and commercial litigators dedicated to trial work.

The Section’s Executive Council seeks to preserve access to courts and judicial independence, as well as providing timely continuing educational opportunities for its members. The Section also provides a forum for discussion and addresses matters which are of interest or impact trial practice in Florida, especially those that come through the Florida Legislature.

Practicing law for close to 40 years, Dart focuses on commercial litigation, and products liability matters. He represents large and small companies, including physician groups and other healthcare related entities, accounting firms, and a variety of other businesses in litigation matters and risk management issues. He also represents financial institutions in commercial loan workouts, loan restructurings, and lender liability claims.

Dart is an AV-rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell, and has consistently been ranked among Best Lawyers® (by BL Rankings, LLC) in various litigation areas of practice. He is a past president of the Sarasota County Bar Association, past chairman of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the 12th Judicial Circuit, past Chairman of the Board of Directors for Gulf Coast Legal Services, Inc., and currently serves on the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Second District Court of Appeals.

Dart is admitted to practice in the state courts of Florida and Colorado as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Dart received his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 1977 and his B.A. from the University of Florida in 1973.
