Adams and Reese attorney Marshall Hevron, commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8973 in New Orleans, is helping organize the Third Annual Patron Party on August 15 and Fundraiser on August 16 for VFW Post 8973, located at 531 Lyons Street in New Orleans, with proceeds to raise money to support the VFW's ongoing renovations, rebuilding efforts and veteran assistance programs.

The Patron Party will be held at Grits Bar on Friday, August 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and tickets are $150 per couple. There will be fare from Dickie Brennan’s Tableau, cocktails and a silent auction. NOLA VFW’s Annual Fundraiser will be held at F&M's Patio Bar on Saturday, August 16, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and feature food from local restaurants, silent auction, music and beer from NOLA Brewing Company. Tickets for the fundraiser are $30, or donations can be made at: http://tinyurl.com/qjb8fz9

VFW Post 8973 is the last remaining Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in New Orleans, and over the last several years, Hevron has aided a recruiting campaign to add close to 200 veterans to the ranks, most of who served in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Post now provides many services to vets, including assistance with VA claims, job counseling, and pro-bono legal assistance.

“Now that we've replenished the Post’s membership, we are turning our attention to renovating the VFW hall,” Hevron said. “This new generation of vets has transformed the Post into a place where veterans of all ages can gather and rekindle the camaraderie they felt while in uniform. The Post's membership is surging, but its meeting hall is in need of repair.”

At Adams and Reese, Hevron is an associate in the Litigation Practice Group in the firm’s New Orleans office. In the community, he is a board member of the Louisiana Military Family Assistance Fund, Save Our Cemeteries, and the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee.
