Adams and Reese Of Counsel Jerry Sheldon was inducted into the Millsaps College Athletic Hall of Fame as one of five inductees into the 2015 class. The ceremony took place on Friday, May 15, at the Capital Club in Jackson, and a recent “Where Are They Now?” Interview and Article with Sheldon was posted on the Millsaps College athletic web site.

Sheldon was nicknamed “Big Red” in his Millsaps playing days in 1965-66, when he was also named a two-time team MVP and averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds per game. A 1967 graduate of Millsaps, Sheldon said his time at the college also prepared him for law school and his legal career.

"I would not have been able to make it if it wasn't for Millsaps. This place taught me how to study, how to balance priorities. I learned that at Millsaps and in law school, you can't just "get by", that was a valuable lesson," he said.

Practicing law since 1970, Sheldon focuses his practice in the areas of energy and environmental and real estate law. His more than 40 years of experience include preparing title options for oil and timber companies and representing clients before the Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board. He has delivered numerous presentations on real estate and oil and gas law topics as well as CLE seminars to groups such as the Mississippi Association of Petroleum Landmen, American Association of Petroleum Landmen - Gulf Coast Division, Mississippi Oil and Gas Lawyers Association and the Mississippi Oil and Gas Institute. He has been named to the Best Lawyers® (by BL Rankings, LLC) since 2003 in Energy Law and Natural Resources Law, and also ranked in Mid-South Super Lawyers® (by Thomson Reuters) and Chambers USA.
