Adams and Reese is one of 40 companies named as finalists for the 2012 “Healthiest Employers” awards, presented by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. In its third year, the TBBJ works exclusively with Indianapolis-based Healthiest Employers, a technology and data research company focused on corporate wellness.
The finalists’ ranking order will be revealed at a luncheon at the Renaissance Vinoy St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club on September 13th. The partnership between the TBBJ and Healthiest Employers provides for an arms-length tool to identify and honor those local businesses that have made a rewarding realization — a healthier workplace means happier employees who are more productive, use less sick time and remain loyal longer.
Every year, Adams and Reese, across its 13 offices nationwide, conducts a wellness, weight-loss challenge for its employees. In addition to discounted gym memberships and routine health care clinics, Adams and Reese has focused on improving the wellness of its employees through installing an annual weight loss program, beginning in 2008, and most recently named “Living Well in 2012.”
In the previous five years, more than 400 employees have participated and combined to lose more than 4,000 total pounds. The challenge consists of a 10-week, weight-loss program designed to lose at least 10 pounds individually, and create a fun atmosphere for weight loss and physical activity, including a chance to win cash prizes.
In 2010, Adams and Reese ranked No. 1 among Birmingham's "Healthiest Employers" in the category of companies with 500-1,499 employees, in a special section published by the Birmingham Business Journal. Adams and Reese has also received “Healthiest Employers” distinction from the Memphis Business Journal.
