Amy L. Hanna Keeney has joined Adams and Reese as special counsel and member of the litigation practice group. A licensed attorney in Georgia since 2010 and in Florida since 2011, Keeney will work out of the firm’s recently-opened office in Atlanta.

During her career, Keeney has defended businesses in state and federal court litigation throughout the Southeast. In particular, she has significant experience representing financial institutions – including mortgage services and auto lenders – in a broad range of litigation manners that includes contested foreclosures, repossession disputes involving personal property collateral, homeowners’ association disputes, reformation actions, trash-out claims, REO disputes, lien priority disputes and quiet title claims.

Keeney’s additional experience includes advising financial institutions regarding regulatory issues faced in the wake of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. She has represented numerous clients in matters involving alleged violations of federal consumer protection statutes, was an active member of her previous firm’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) practice area and has been observing CFPB developments since its inception.

Georgia Super Lawyers® honored Keeney in 2017 as a Top Rated Consumer Law Attorney in Atlanta and a Rising Star in Consumer Law. She is a two-time graduate of the University of Florida, earning a B.S. in journalism and a J.D. during a seven-year stint in Gainesville, Fla.

As an undergraduate student, she was a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. As a law student, Amy served as an executive editor of the Florida Law Review, received honors in Legal Research & Writing and Appellate Advocacy and later served as a teaching assistant for those two courses. She also earned the Outstanding Achievement in Pro Bono Work Award while at UF Law.
