April Smith, a Mobile native, joined Adams and Reese’s Mobile office in 2005. As a Partner, she represents financial institutions, businesses and individuals in a diverse practice, including matters involving financing transactions; workouts of complex commercial transactions; banking and creditor’s rights litigation; commercial property and timberland acquisitions and sales; and mergers, acquisitions and sales of businesses.

Transactions and litigation April has been involved in include:

  • Financing of credit facilities ranging in size from $75,000 to over $100 million.
  • The acquisition and sale of timberlands ranging from 20 acres to 1.8 million acres.
  • Complex banking litigation in federal court involving disputes between participant lenders in a $10 million loan.
  • Foreclosures (both judicial and non-judicial) of properties ranging in value from $10,000 to over $15 million, including hotels, development properties, commercial and residential properties.
  • Various creditor’s rights litigation and collection activities in both state and federal court for financial institutions and businesses.
  • Developed, negotiated, and oversaw workouts, on behalf of institutional clients, for numerous non-performing or under-performing commercial loans.
  • Litigation and arbitration involving long-term timber lease disputes.

April has been selected among the Rising Stars in Alabama Super Lawyers® for the past four years in the areas of real estate, business/corporate or business litigation.
April is a recent graduate of the 2015 Class of Leadership Mobile, a program by Mobile United that identifies and develops leaders from all sectors of the community who are committed to community-building and civic service.

April earned her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, and her undergraduate degree from the University of South Alabama, where she played NCAA Division I volleyball.

When she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, especially on the beaches of 30a in South Walton County, Florida. She also enjoys running, volleyball, and University of Alabama football.
