Training

We provide an extensive training program for first and second-year associates. First-year associate training covers fundamental topics including professionalism, work organization, time keeping, working with staff, policies and procedures, ethics, professional responsibility, firm economics and marketing. Second-year associate training involves more directed and concentrated sessions in the transactional and litigation practice areas. In addition, litigation associates receive training by assuming responsibility for our pro bono cases.

The firm’s trainers include some of our most respected senior partners, the men and women who have experienced 30 or more years before the courts of the region and the nation. The best training comes from being an apprentice to the masters, and our masters look forward to sharing their knowledge, wisdom and understanding with the masters of the future.

Mentoring

The Mentor Program helps new associates make the transition into our firm. Every mentor is a seasoned lawyer who takes a personal interest in the assigned associate. Offering both encouragement and constructive criticism, mentors make themselves available to answer questions and help address concerns that invariably arise as the associate encounters new situations. Having not forgotten what it was like to be a new associate, mentors commit themselves to help new associates produce their best work.
