Charlie Cerise joined Adams and Reese in 1999 and has been practicing in the areas of maritime, toxic tort, environmental contamination, contracts, casualty, insurance and products liability litigation since 1983. Charlie is also known for litigating offshore energy cases, including complex limitation of liability actions, and handling environmental contamination and exposure cases in both single and multi-party settings.

 

In addition to his seasoned litigation skills, Charlie is actively involved in firm management.  He currently serves as one of the firm’s three litigation practice group leaders, with responsibility for litigation administration and practice management in all offices of the firm. He previously has served as liaison partner to the firm associates and as a partner-in-charge of the New Orleans office. He was named by New Orleans CityBusiness as a "Leadership in Law" recipient in 2006.  

 

Charlie’s experience includes:

  • Personal injury and property damage litigation from single to multi-party cases, including Jones Act, longshore, third-party asset damage, collision, complex limitation of liability matters, toxic tort, products liability, and casualty.
  • Significant death, injury and property damage litigation.
  • Insurance, redhibition, and contract litigation.
  • Complex, multi-party and class action litigation involving naturally occurring radioactive materials and environmental and personal injury damage alleged to be caused by industrial contamination.
  • Practical business management and knowledge.

 

Charlie graduated third in his law school class and has served as co-author of the admiralty section of the Fifth Circuit Symposium of the Loyola Law Review (1989 and 1996). When he’s not in the office, he’s often found spending time with his family and reading.
