Chris P. Perque is a member of the Special Business Services Practice Group and Intellectual Property Practice Team. He works closely with clients to tailor litigation strategies and tactics to their goals and objectives. Chris promotes transparency through regular client conferences to prioritize and set action items to meet short term goals, manages the team size to increase efficiency and effectiveness, and crafts fee arrangements to compliment the client’s financial needs. His client-driven focus has been honed with over 25 years of leading litigation teams in patent, trade secret and other technology-related cases.

Chris has also drafted and negotiated over $30 billion in transactions related to intellectual property, information technologies, and other technology assets, including the sale of refineries and upstream and midstream assets, pharmaceutical licensing and supply, various internet-related agreements, and software licensing and development agreements.

Over the course of his career, Chris has amassed a wealth of experience and specialties in IP and technology law, including:

  • Serving as lead counsel in cases involving patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, copyright infringement, unfair competition and breach of contract
  • Handling software and other cases involving various technologies such as the industrial internet of things (IIOT), distributed networks, speech recognition systems, flight simulators, financial analyses, oil field tools, oil rigs, oil and gas processing, and other systems
  • Litigating claims for trademark and trade dress infringement and trade disparagement, including internet-specific claims involving cybersquatting and metatags
  • Negotiating transactions ranging from multimillion-dollar technology licenses to internet-related agreements for emerging companies

Chris has also performed audits and counseling related to IP assets and strategies as well as counseling regarding infringement and the validity of U.S. patents. He frequently works with large and small companies on their technology development and management initiatives and the protection of their intellectual property.

For many years, Chris has been a recognized Best Lawyer® in Technology Law. He has also written articles exploring IP and technology-related law topics. Chris earned his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1991. He earned his B.S. from Louisiana State University in 1985.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family.
