David M. Barron

Governmental Relations

David Barron is a Senior Governmental Affairs Advisor with the Governmental Relations team in the Washington, DC office of Adams and Reese. David has more than three decades of experience in telecommunications and has extensive experience in other areas such as national security, homeland security, emergency preparedness and business continuity planning. He has worked closely on such matters with numerous federal executive agencies including the White House, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

 

His other significant contributions include:

 

  • Currently serving a three-year term on the FEMA National Advisory Council. In this capacity, he and other Council members will help ensure effective and ongoing coordination of the federal preparedness, protection, response, recovery and mitigation for natural disasters, acts of terrorism and other man-made disasters.  
  • Previously served as Chairman of the Industry Executive Subcommittee (IES) of the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC) and served  as the Chairman of the Department of Homeland Security’s Communications Sector Coordinating Council. He also worked with congressional delegations in Louisiana, Mississippi and other delegations assigned to homeland security and national security matters.
  • Providing help to his clients with support from his numerous contacts in the areas of Homeland Security, Defense, Commerce, FEMA, and the FCC.  David’s contacts include senior level stakeholders in both the Government and the private sector.  

 

Prior to joining the firm, David served as Assistant Vice President for BellSouth Corporation (AT&T) in Washington DC where he directly supported BellSouth’s Chairman and CEO and was responsible for the company’s national security matters.

 

In his spare time, David enjoys honing his golf game, boating and traveling.
