David Stewart joined Adams and Reese in 2017 following the firm’s expansion into Atlanta. He is an Associate and member of the Banking/Financial Services Practice Team. In his practice, David works with clients on a range of corporate and commercial real estate transactions, including corporate formations, asset and stock purchases, commercial leasing and a variety of secured transactions. He has helped both lenders and borrowers reach their funding goals and also provides corporate and tax advice to donors in charitable conservation gifts of real property. David further assists clients in health care compliance matters, privacy and security matters, and general regulatory and corporate compliance issues.

Among his representative matters, David:

  • Represented the purchaser in a debt and equity raise of $39 million and related acquisition of apartment complex in Metro Atlanta.
  • Represented the lender in multiple construction and permanent loans in Georgia and throughout the Southeast.
  • Represented multiple promoter and issuer groups in connection with real estate syndication private placement offerings ranging from $5 million to $25 million in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
  • Represented the purchaser in the acquisition of an industrial real property and warehouse portfolio valued at nearly $775 million.

In the legal community, David is actively involved in the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association.

David is also a frequent writer and contributor of articles exploring corporate regulatory and compliance topics. He has recently co-authored pieces published in the Daily Report and the FCPA Report.

David earned his J.D. with honors from Emory University School of Law accompanied by a Transactional Law and Skills Certificate. He received his B.A. summa cum laude from Clemson University.

In his spare time, he enjoys discovering new Atlanta restaurants with his wife, Atlanta Braves baseball, and Clemson football.
