Giles Perkins

Giles Perkins, a fourth generation lawyer living in Birmingham, Alabama, and practicing law since 1992, serves as Special Counsel in the Adams and Reese Birmingham office. He is experienced in several areas of law including governmental affairs, public finance and development, corporate law and complex litigation.

Giles served as Executive Director of the Alabama Democratic Party from 1997 to 1999, and is a former candidate for the Attorney General office in Alabama. As outside counsel, he has advised scores of elected officials in Alabama, including two governors and much of the current leadership of the Alabama Legislature.

Giles earned his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and received his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law where he was President of the Student Body and Chairman of the Honor Council. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1992.

Giles is active in the Birmingham community as a Founding Member of the Birmingham Zoo, Inc., where he was instrumental operating the Zoo as a for-profit business and making it the number one tourist attraction in Alabama. He is currently the President Emeritus of the Railroad Park Foundation, a group of civic leaders building a 22 million-dollar green space, park, and amphitheatre in downtown Birmingham.

Giles and his wife Hillery have three children, Barton (13), Hugh (12), and Beverly (6). Hillery is the CEO of Ram Tool. The Perkins are members of St. Mary’s Church in Birmingham.
