Haverly MacArthur joined Adams and Reese in 2005 as part of the firm’s merger with Stokes Bartholomew. As a Partner in the Intellectual Property Group, her practice focuses on the acquisition, licensing, and enforcement of intellectual property for corporations, individuals and entertainment industry clients in Nashville and other Adams and Reese offices.

Both domestic and international, Haverly’s work includes the enforcement of intellectual property rights on the Internet, domain name disputes and counseling in the area of e-commerce. Her work also includes transactional matters such as due diligence, advertising law, intellectual property audits and licensing. She plays a role in managing national and international trademark portfolios, the firm’s foreign counsel in this practice area, newer associates and intellectual property staff.   

Her other significant contributions and honors include:

  • Extensive experience in protecting and enforcing client rights in the United States and in many other countries, including emerging markets in Asia.
  • Representing the trademark and copyright interests of the world’s leading provider of foreign language instruction services.
  • Tracking down trademark and copyright infringers on the Internet.
  • Participation in the University of Texas School of Law Capital Punishment Clinic, where she assisted attorneys in representing indigent criminal defendants in capital cases at the trial level, on appeal and in post-conviction review. Most notably, she assisted in the preparation of a brief in a case before the United States Supreme Court and attended the oral arguments before the court in Washington, DC.

In law school, Haverly was an Articles & Notes Editor for the Texas International Law Journal, one of the oldest and most respected international law journals in the country. Prior to law school, she lived in Stuttgart, Germany, for two years where she was a student at a German university and taught English at various companies. In her free time, she enjoys reading fiction, exercising and international travel.
