JoAnn Courcelle joined Adams and Reese in 2000 and is a member of the Commercial Restructuring and Bankruptcy team. She practices primarily in the areas of bankruptcy, corporate and commercial litigation, general litigation and general business advice. She represents secured and unsecured creditors' committees in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and adversary proceedings.
JoAnn has a particular focus in complex corporate restructuring matters in both bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy contexts. Her significant contributions include:
- Representing clients in commercial litigation, commercial Chapter 11 bankruptcy matters including negotiation and preparation of plans of reorganization, asset sales, voidable preference and fraudulent conveyance litigation, commercial real estate, oil and gas issues, executory contract and unexpired lease issues and contract disputes.
- Additional Chapter 11 bankruptcy counsel for pre-bankruptcy and debtor-in-possession lenders, creditors and creditor committees, debtors, purchasers, lessors, franchisors and other parties in the restructuring process.
JoAnn has represented clients in the oil and gas, manufacturing, maritime, gaming, commercial real estate, retail, food services, shipbuilding, agri-business, consumer products, franchise, pharmaceutical, chemical, fuel oil and construction industries. She is also a member of SOLACE and HELP, the first of which provides people in the legal community with assistance during a catastrophic illness or death, and the second a pro bono legal aid group for the homeless.
In her free time, Joann enjoys travel, reading and raising her family.
