Joey E. Schlosberg joined Adams and Reese in 2010 following the firm's expansion into St. Petersburg. He is a Partner in the firm's Transactions and Corporate Advisory Services Practice Group and has been practicing law since 1997.
Joey represents financial institutions and other businesses in bankruptcy and state insolvency proceedings, commercial litigation matters before federal and state courts, and appellate proceedings before federal and state court.
His bankruptcy and insolvency practice includes representing secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy reorganizations as well as liquidations under federal and state insolvency laws, and representing businesses in adversary proceedings such as preference and fraudulent transfer actions brought by debtors, creditors' committees and trustees.
Joey's litigation practice involves disputes arising out of a variety of commercial and secured transactions, and includes complex commercial collection matters, while his appellate practice involves representing litigants in appeals of final and non-final orders issued by state courts, bankruptcy courts and federal district courts.
His representative experience also includes:
- Represented creditors in the largest United States bankruptcies in history, including Lehman Bros. and Enron Corp.
- Through his combination of trial and appellate experience, he can formulate strategies which not only focus on the issues before the trial court, but anticipate potential appellate issues.
- Through his combination of in-house and law firm experience, he can counsel businesses on methods to repair financial relationships with financially distressed companies, through workouts, restructurings or litigation when necessary.
Joey is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, United States District Court, Southern District of Florida; United States District Court, Middle District of Florida; United States District Court, Northern District of Florida; and United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit.
He is a member of the Florida Bar; American Bankruptcy Institute; Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Association; Business Section of Florida Bar; and Appellate Section of Florida Bar.
Joey received his J.D., high honors, from the University of Florida College of Law in 1995, and while in law school, he was a board member of the Law Review and graduated a member of Order of the Coif. He received his B.A. from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1992.
Among the people Joey admires most is his father, who as a cab driver in New York City had an incredible work ethic; was there for everyone in his family with unyielding loyalty; and was able to support three children and provide a lifestyle usually reserved for those of children of professionals.
Joey enjoys spending his spare time with family and baseball.
