John T. Rogerson III

Litigation Practice Group Leader

John T. Rogerson III joined Adams and Reese in 2013 as a Partner following the firm’s expansion into Jacksonville.

Practicing law since 1989, John focuses in the areas of business and commercial litigation, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, toxic tort defense, and insurance law/litigation. He also advises corporate and health care providers in general business and legal matters.

John’s clients include banks and financial institutions, creditors in bankruptcies, medical providers with litigation issues, and businesses with litigation needs.

After successfully representing a client in a major forbearance deficiency action, John said one of his great legal accomplishments was being told by the opposing counsel, who is a very prominent business litigator, that John’s representation in the case was the best example of ethical lawyering the opposing counsel had seen in his career.

John's legal achievements and accomplishments include:

  • Ranked among Best Lawyers® in Insurance Law.
  • Selected among Florida Super Lawyers® in Business Litigation, Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights and Insurance Coverage Law.
  • Named among the “Florida Legal Elite” by The Florida Trend.
  • Selected among “Top Lawyers” by Jacksonville Magazine’s 904 in 2011 and 2012.
  • Named among the “Top Attorneys in Florida” in The Wall Street Journal in 2011.

John received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, in 1989. While attending law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Conflict of Laws. He earned his B.A. from the University of Florida, in 1985.

In the community, John is a frequent supporter of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, and he represents Family Support Services of North Florida, a charitable organization that oversees north Florida’s foster care program.

Among the people John most admires is Louis Zamperini, the real life subject of the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand; Zamperini was an Olympic distance runner and Japanese prisoner of war in World War II. He also admires former United States President Harry S. Truman and American Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist, political commentator, and physician Charles Krauthammer.

In his spare time, John enjoys playing golf, working out, and watching Gator (University of Florida) sports.
