Martin Brown, Jr. joined Adams and Reese in 1994 and primarily represents privately held businesses and their owners. His experience includes complex business transactions such as the licensing of intellectual property, international commerce, mergers and acquisitions and estate planning matters. He also advises on the private placement of securities and the implementation of stock option plans for employees.
Martin is an experienced health care attorney, having represented specialty pharmaceutical companies conducting financings and licensing rights to specialized technology, a biotechnology company in a dispute over intellectual property rights, and a foreign medical device manufacturer developing domestic distribution arrangements.
His notable accomplishments include:
- Service on the Board of Directors of Brown-Forman Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange listed company, since 2006.
- Listed in Best Lawyers® in Corporate Law and selection in “Best of the Bar,” as published by the Nashville Business Journal.
- Service as law clerk for Hon. Boyce F. Martin, Jr., United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Martin has served as a trustee of the Nature Conservancy- Tennessee chapter, and as a director of Nashville Public Television. He is a former director of Centerstone Mental Health Center, the tenth largest behavioral health provider in the nation. He serves as President of the Yale Club of Middle Tennessee, and is a member of the Exchange Club of Nashville.
Martin also has been a director of Cumberland Region Tomorrow, a regional planning organization. Within the firm, Martin is the HUGS and CARE coordinator in Nashville and has served on the firm's Recruiting Committee. His personal interests include tennis and cycling.
