Matt Storey joined Adams and Reese in 2007 and is currently an associate. He works with the Litigation Practice Group in the Houston office and focuses his practice in the area of commercial dispute resolution and tort litigation.
His commercial litigation experience includes cases involving claims for breach of contract, fraud, warranty, tortious interference, business disparagement, breach of fiduciary duty, suits on sworn accounts and unfair competition. He has both defended against and asserted these claims on clients’ behalf. Matt’s tort litigation experience includes cases involving wrongful death, survival actions, maritime claims, conversion, premises liability, products liability, assault, negligence, gross negligence, the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Texas Theft Liability Act. Matt also has experience handling defense and indemnity issues, OSHA violations, violations of non-compete agreements and commercial and residential insurance disputes.
His other significant contributions include:
- Researching and drafting the winning argument in a brief to enjoin the Louisiana Legislature from implementing a law that would have prevented our client from expanding its business.
- Defending against a multi-plaintiff lawsuit involving a refinery incident.
- Obtaining a number of summary judgments for premises owners in premises liability cases, including maintaining a summary judgment on appeal.
- Earning the University of Mississippi’s highest academic honor, the Taylor Medal, in part for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
In 2007, Matt received his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law, where he earned the Dean’s Merit Scholarship for three years, placed in a number of moot court competitions across the United States, and was a Garland Walker Summer Mock Trial Academy Advocate for two years. When he gets out of the office, Matt prefers to spend time engaging in just about any outdoor activity, particularly fishing and hunting.
