Michael A. Berson


Michael A. Berson joined Adams and Reese in 2015 as an Associate in the firm’s Mobile office. Michael is experienced in a variety of litigation areas including real estate, corporate and family law, and has represented clients in bankruptcy matters, lease negotiations, and on Capitol Hill.

Michael formerly served as Director of Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel of the National Small Business Association in Washington DC. He oversaw all legislative activities including prioritization of issues, development of policy positions, and formulation of strategies to advance small business interests to Congress and the White House with respect to all economic development, energy, environmental and regulatory affairs matters.

Michael’s additional representative experience includes:

  • Developed and implemented federal policy and legislative strategies for defense, telecommunications, higher education and government clients on Capitol Hill and within governmental agencies.
  • Practiced business litigation, trust and estate litigation, and domestic litigation.
  • Clerked for The Honorable John R. Lockett, 13th Judicial Circuit in Mobile, working on all matters related to the Judge’s civil docket.

Michael is admitted to practice in both Alabama and Georgia.

Michael earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in 2006. He was a board member of the Cordell Hull Speakers’ Forum, Dean’s List and Scholar of Merit Recipient. He received his B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of Florida in 2002.

Among the people Michael most admires are his mother and father for instilling in him the virtues of hard work and dedication.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife Jena, family and friends, and also fly fishing.
