On February 11th, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans affirmed the U.S. District Court’s decision to give the MCSD full unitary status, ruling the district “has done all that it could to remedy the (prior) segregation caused by official action” and had “to the extent practicable, eliminated the vestiges of racial discrimination resulting from the former racially dual system,” according to the opinion released by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Joan Anderson v.
