Three Adams and Reese Partners Named Among Tennessee's "150 Best Lawyers"1/9/2009
Pera was recognized for excellence in the Business Litigation category, Barnett was recognized in the Public Finance category and Gay was recognized in the Personal Injury category. The three attorneys were listed online, and also in the January/ February 2009 issue of Business TN. Pera, a Memphis native, is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group. He practices primarily in the civil trial arena, including a wide variety of commercial, media, intellectual property, and personal injury litigation. He also has a growing practice counseling and representing lawyers, law firms, and others on questions of legal ethics and the professional responsibility of lawyers. As an active member of the Media Law Resource Center’s Defense Counsel Section, he serves as chair of its ethics committee and as author of two Tennessee chapters in its national surveys of media law. He speaks and writes on media law issues, both in Tennessee and nationally. Pera is a member of the American Law Institute and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law, First Amendment Law), and Chambers USA Directory as a Leader in the field of Litigation: General Commercial. Barnett is a member of the Public Finance Team. Her practice concentrates on public finance transactions, and she regularly serves as bond counsel and issuer's counsel. She is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Association, and a member of the Tennessee and American Bar Associations, the Lawyer's Association for Women and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. She also serves as a member of the Funding Board for the Music City Center 2008 Project. Barnett is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Public Finance Law). Gay is a member of the firm’s Pharmaceuticals and Products Liability Team of the Litigation Practice Group, and also works extensively with the Healthcare Litigation Group. In the last several years, Mr. Gay has personally tried over 15 major products liability and medical malpractice cases involving serious personal injury (e.g., quadrapledgia, brain damage) to successful defense verdicts before juries in Louisiana. Gay is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and a member of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel where he served as co-chairman of the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Biotechnology Committee. He is a member of Lawyers for Civil Justice and served as chairman of the Committee on Medicaid Recovery Efforts. He is a fellow in the International Society of Barristers and a member of Who's Who of International Lawyers. He has been a frequent lecturer in the areas of trial practice and personal injury litigation. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Medical Malpractice Law, Personal Injury Litigation, Product Liability Litigation) and Louisiana Super Lawyers (Health Care).
