In response to the release of President Obama’s 2013 budget, Republican leaders have issued a series of statements. House Speaker John Boehner’s statement highlights the proposed $1.5 trillion tax increase in conjunction with President Obama’s stimulus approach in the budget. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell characterized the administration’s budget as a campaign document.
Rep. Paul Ryan, Chairman of the House Budget Committee, released a fact sheet that was prepared by both the House and Senate Budget Committees. He identified 4 main tenets in the President’s FY 2013 budget: increased spending, increased taxes, extensive borrowing, and budget gimmicks.
Attached is the aforementioned bicameral fact sheet regarding the administration’s FY 2013 budget. Both the House and Senate have budget hearings scheduled during the rest of the week. As always, we will continue to monitor this and update you accordingly. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of additional assistance.
