Scott Levy joined Adams and Reese in 2011 as an Associate in the firm's Baton Rouge office as part of the Special Business Services Practice Group. He has experience in litigation, transactions and governmental relations law and was a former summer associate with Adams and Reese in 2009.
Scott is a former law clerk for the Honorable Timothy E. Kelley in the Nineteenth Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge and also served as law clerk in the Executive Counsel’s Office, Office of the Governor in Baton Rouge during Governor Bobby Jindal’s tenure.
Showing experience in the governmental relations industry, Scott has worked as an administrative aide with the Office of the Lieutenant Governor in Baton Rouge. He also has experience at the federal level, having been employed in various positions with the United States Department of Education.
Scott’s other prior experience includes:
- Served as a member of the White House Advance Team in the Office of Presidential Advance. Scott was one of the working points of contact during visits of the President of the United States, including working with the host committee or host government, the United States Secret Service and White House Military Office to ensure a smooth event for the President and guests. During his tenure, Scott was appointed member of “Team NOLA,” responsible for traveling to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina to participate in on the ground and air assessments to determine accessibility for a Presidential visit. He returned for every trip taken by former Pres. Bush or Vice President Cheney after the storm. Scott also traveled internationally, facilitating visits to Beijing, China; Panama City, Panama; and Riga, Latvia.
- Worked with the United States Department of Education as Senior Advance Representative and Confidential Assistant to Secretary Margaret Spellings. Scott worked with the Secretary on her national visits promoting former Pres. Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” policy and the American Competitiveness Initiative and played a communications role in the White House Initiative on Tribal Colleges and Universities. Scott facilitated Secretary Spellings' visit to Moscow, Russia, for the G8 Education Ministers Meeting.
- Interned as a state field director for the Bush-Cheney Presidential Campaign in 2004, assisting in the setup of the Louisiana statewide campaign structure and implementing state-targeted communications strategy. During the 2004 election cycle, Scott was brought on full time by the Republican Party of Florida to assist with former President Bush’s reelection efforts in that vital state.
Scott earned his J.D. from the Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he was a member of the Chancellor’s Student Advisory Committee. He double-majored at Louisiana State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, both in 2004. As an undergraduate, Scott was President of LSU Interfraternity Council; student member of LSU Athletic Council; director of student activities for the LSU Student Government; and Senator of the LSU Student Senate.
In the community, Scott is an alumni of the Class of 2004 of Leadership LSU, a program for students preparing to leave the university and seek jobs in leadership roles in the communities where they will be living and working. Scott is a former LSU Law Center Student Representative with the 2009 “Belly Up With The Bar” Committee. He is a parishioner at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Baton Rouge.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife Candace and daughter Adi Ray, who provides his daily inspiration. He admires the fight in his daughter who spent the first two weeks of her life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and she has been a fighter since day one.
Scott enjoys staying on top of current news/events, politics, cooking and following LSU Athletics. He reads non-fiction literature and plays basketball and tennis.
