Scott Robert Cheatham

Scott Cheatham joined the Houston office of Adams and Reese in 2005 and transferred to the New Orleans office in 2008. He practices primarily in the areas of bankruptcy law, including automatic stay disputes, lease and executory contract issues, oil and gas liens, asset sales, voidable preference and fraudulent conveyance litigation and adversary proceedings.

 

As a member of the Commercial Restructuring and Bankruptcy team, Scott has represented debtors and creditors in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcies. He has also litigated cases involving bankruptcy and contractual disputes, complex tort claims and oil and gas matters. 

 

His significant contributions include:

 

  • Representing clients, including multi-national corporations, in all commercial litigation matters as well as corporate bankruptcy cases with intricacies specific to Texas and Louisiana.
  • Obtaining favorable judgments in multiple cases involving contractual disputes for a local financial institution and a medical staffing company.
  • Representing various financial institutions in seizure and foreclosure actions.
