Wayne Weidie joined Adams and Reese in 2004. His vast experience in political and legislative matters is a great asset to the firm and often allows for a better solution than litigation for the firm’s legal clients.
Prior to joining Adams and Reese, Wayne served as Chief of Staff from 1990-2003 for United States Representative Gene Taylor. During his tenure with Representative Taylor, Wayne’s duties included press for the Washington office and three district offices, supervision of staff, budget preparation and tax, ethics and campaign issues. Before joining Representative Taylor, Wayne was Editor and Publisher of two Gannett newspapers, was a syndicated political columnist for 43 newspapers and appeared weekly on “Newswatch This Week” for the ABC-affiliate on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He is a former President of the Mississippi Press Association.
His significant contributions include:
- Having his journalism, political and congressional papers requested to be a part of the collections in the library’s Journalism and Political Research Collection at Mississippi State University Library.
- Increasing the members and scope of the Governmental Relations Team in the firm so as to have team members in all of the firm’s footprint states.
- Appointment to the Advisory Council for the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University as well as being a participant in the Bill Collin’s lecture series at the university.
- Active member in the Mississippi Manufacturers Association, the Mississippi Economic Development Council and the American League of Lobbyists.
In his free time, Wayne enjoys golfing, reading, attending sports events and involving himself in numerous political campaigns.
