William “Billy” Davis joined Adams and Reese in 2008 and serves as an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Group. His practice includes representation of clients in matters involving contractual disputes, property damage, personal injury, construction disputes, and other business torts. Billy also has significant experience with insurance coverage analysis and insurance litigation. He has experience representing small businesses, individuals, insurance carriers, and large institutional clients.
His significant contributions include:
- Served as second chair counsel in an arbitration proceeding concerning the construction of a foreign industrial gas facility. Claims were asserted against our clients for breach of contract, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, and conversion. After a four-day final hearing, the arbitration panel issued a take nothing award on all claims in our clients’ favor.
- Served as second chair counsel in the prosecution of a fraudulent transfer lawsuit on behalf of a client that was a victim of an investment scam. The jury returned a verdict in favor of our client in less than 30 minutes.
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of an institutional insurance client in a first-party bad faith lawsuit.
Prior to joining Adams and Reese, Billy was a law clerk at Baker Hughes, a global oilfield services corporation. At Baker Hughes, Billy had the responsibility of drafting, reviewing and briefing agreements used in international sales and operations transactions. He also advised in-house counsel on various issues related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Sarbanes-Oxley and other corporate matters.
Billy received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law where he served as a Note & Comment Editor for the South Texas Law Review, was named to the Dean’s Honor List, and was active in the school’s nationally recognized advocacy program.
Billy has served his community as a member of the World Affairs Council of Houston. He has also been involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas and was a coach with the South Austin Sports League Association.
Outside of work, Billy’s interests include mountain biking, tennis, baseball, bird hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
