William P. “Bill” McElveen, Jr. has been re-elected to serve a second term as Chairman of the Adams and Reese Executive Committee in 2017. The six-partner Executive Committee oversees the strategic operations of the firm as well as its attorneys and staff. Adams and Reese has nearly 280 attorneys and advisors located in 16 offices across 15 markets throughout the southern United States and Washington, D.C.

“I am honored to serve the firm in this role again in 2017,” McElveen said. “I look forward to working closely with my partners, our attorneys and the firm’s professional staff to ensure that we continue offering the highest level of representation and service to our clients.”

McElveen, who was elected to serve as Chairman of the Committee in January 2016, is the former managing shareholder of Ellis Lawhorne, which merged with Adams and Reese in 2013. Practicing law since 1984, he has a diverse real estate, banking and financial services practice in Columbia and the region. McElveen has served as counsel for real estate developers in a variety of projects including office and retail development, industrial projects, historic rehabilitation projects, brownfield developments, healthcare facilities, student housing projects, educational facilities and condominium projects.

McElveen also serves as counsel to national and regional banks and other institutional lenders on office and retail development projects; industrial facilities; asset-based financings; credit enhancements to support bond financing; dormitory and sports complex financings for educational institutions; and troubled debt restructuring and workouts.

McElveen serves in the Corporate, Banking and Securities Section and the Real Estate Practices Section of the South Carolina Bar. He is a past chair of the Real Estate Section. He also previously served on the boards of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Hammond School and Junior Achievement of the Midlands. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Midlands Business Leadership Group.

McElveen is also listed in Best Lawyers (by BL Rankings, LLC) and South Carolina Super Lawyers (by Thomson Reuters) in Real Estate and Banking. He practices in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina office.

Washington, D.C. Partner B. Jeffrey “Jeff” Brooks and New Orleans Partner Francis V. “Frank” Liantonio, Jr. were also elected to serve three-year terms as members of the firm’s Executive Committee, beginning Jan. 1. Brooks previously served as Chairman of the Committee in 2014 and 2015. Liantonio has previously served two terms as a member of the Committee.
