INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

We protect our clients’ assets, complete strategic transactions, and deal productively with regulators. Our natural resources attorneys guide clients through interactions with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Environmental Protection Agency, and various agencies and groups to secure necessary certifications and navigate wide-ranging federal, state, and local rules and regulations.

Adams & Reese’s forestry lawyers and advisors manage transactions such as land and timber acquisitions, mill sales, financing, fiber supply agreements, real estate development, and title insurance. We provide guidance and legislative advocacy for green forestry, including wind and solar energy, carbon sequestration, and conservation. As a forestry law firm, we also advise on land management, covering contracts, forest sustainability certification, litigation, dispute resolution, endangered species, wetlands, taxes, oil and gas, and wildlife.

When a client wanted to build a sawmill near the intersection of three states, Adams & Reese sought competitive proposals from those states and achieved $500,000 in incentives. We also advised our client through land acquisition, material contracts, finances, and byproduct agreements.

A bank client wanted to restructure its timberland investments, so we developed a tax-advantaged timberland note structure that helped the client close strategic transactions involving $2.3 billion over the following decade.
