Adams and Reese attorney Laurie Young, a Partner in the law firm’s New Orleans office, was selected a 2013 Loyola Alumni “Women in Law” Honoree, recognized on May 16th along with six other Loyola University New Orleans College of Law alumnae at the Loyola “Women in Law” Spring Fling, which took place at the home of alumna Linda Nelson-Barnett, J.D. ’77.

The “Women in Law” honor was created by the Loyola University College of Law in order to appreciate female alumnae who have demonstrated professional achievement in the practice of law as well as a strong involvement in the community. Young received her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1991.

At Adams and Reese, Young is a Partner in the Litigation Group focusing her practice on the litigation of maritime and energy, labor and employment, and general litigation matters. She has defended claims in many venues including state and federal courts, and the office of administrative law judges.

Young has represented a wide variety of clients including hotels - Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Wyndham International - and general businesses - Varian Medical Systems, Inc., DHL WorldWide, Inc., WD-40 Company - in general litigation matters including premises liability, products liability and workers’ compensation claims. She also has represented several oil and gas companies, including Shell Oil, Eurest Support Services, Helmerich and Payne International Drilling Company, and employers in Jones Act and LHWCA claims.

Young is a frequent guest lecturer at the law schools of Loyola and Southern University in Louisiana as well as at private seminars and in-house programs developed for individual clients. She also sits on the Pro Bono Mentoring Committee of the Louisiana State Bar Association and is active in representation of pro bono clients in juvenile court in Orleans Parish.

Young was honored among the “Women of the Year” by New Orleans CityBusiness in 2012.
