Adams and Reese attorney Lee Reid has been asked by New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu to serve as a Commissioner on the Arts Council of New Orleans. The Arts Council of New Orleans is a private, nonprofit organization designated as the City’s official arts agency.
Now in its 36th year, the Arts Council serves as one of eight regional distributing agencies for state arts funds and administers available municipal arts grants and the Percent For Art program for the City of New Orleans.
The Arts Council works in partnership with the City of New Orleans, community groups, local, state, and national governmental agencies, and other nonprofit arts organizations to meet the arts and cultural needs of the New Orleans community through a diversity of initiatives and services.
At Adams and Reese, Reid practices in the areas of business services, education, aerospace, governmental relations, economic development and litigation.
Reid has assisted in bringing to fruition one of the largest economic development projects in the State of Louisiana: the Federal City Project, working to retain 1,900 Marine Force Reservists in New Orleans and to convert the Historic Naval Support Activity – West Bank in Algiers to a public-private development that will eventually create over 10,000 jobs. He has also been instrumental in the development of charter schools across Louisiana, representing a diverse array of stakeholders and dedicating numerous hours of pro bono assistance to improving the environment for charter schools in the State.
In the community, Reid is currently serving on the New Orleans Public Library Board. He is post-chair of NOPL and post-chair of the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. He is also a Past President of the Young Leadership Council, an organization of over 1,400 members who create, run, fund, and oversee ongoing community service projects in the New Orleans metro area. Reid currently also serves on the Board of Directors for Infinity Science Center and Partners for Stennis.
