Adams and Reese, Birmingham Bar Association to Present Bankruptcy CLE Seminars on Important ABI Ethics Topics

10/1/2013

The American Bankruptcy Institute National Ethics Task Force published its final report earlier this year, and starting in October, the law firm of Adams and Reese and the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section of the Birmingham Bar Association will sponsor four, one-hour CLE lunch programs to cover the topics included in the report.

Topics will include: Competency for Debtors’ Counsel (Business) & Duties of Counsel for a DIP as Fiduciary and Responsibilities to the Estate; Competency for Debtor’s Counsel (Consumer) & Best Practices for Limited Services Representation in Consumer Bankruptcy Cases; The Use of Conflicts Counsel in Business Reorganization Cases & Report on Best Practices for Creditors’ Committee Solicitation; and Proposed Amendments to Rule 2014 & A Framework for Pre-Approval of Terms for Retention and Compensation Under 11 U.S.C. § 328.

Each lunch program is approved by the Alabama State Bar for 1.0 hour MCLE Credit (including one hour ethics). Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m., and the one-hour seminar will start at 12:10 p.m. There is a $10 registration fee for each program. All proceeds will benefit the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program.

If you are interested in attending one (or more) of the programs, please RSVP by e-mail to Ramona Klinner at Ramona.Klinner@arlaw.com on or before the applicable RSVP deadline. Space is limited, so you must make a reservation to attend. The program materials will be e-mailed to attendees in advance of the program. Registration fees should be paid at sign-in in cash or by check payable to the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program.  If you have any questions, please contact Will Thuston at 205.250.6645 or WLThuston@csattorneys.com.
