The Adams and Reese Houston office, through an interoffice fundraiser held in May, raised $2,400 for the aniMeals on Wheels program, which is run by Interfaith Ministries and helps senior citizens feed their pets.
The aniMeals on Wheels program was founded so that home-bound seniors on Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston’s Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston program would not feel compelled to share their limited food and resources with their four-legged friends. IM collects donated pet food that volunteers deliver each month to seniors.
“We appreciate Adams and Reese in supporting our efforts to assist seniors and their pets through the aniMeals on Wheels program,” said Karina Hernandez, manager of volunteer services for the program.
On May 16th, Adams and Reese held an hot dog luncheon with an ice cream bar, and also a door prize drawing to a local theater benefiting aniMeals on Wheels. Combined with $5 jeans days, this fundraiser was a huge success for the month of May as the office surpassed the $2,000 goal, not including the pet food and toys that have been donated. This total includes $500 contributed by The Houston All Terrier Club.
AniMeals on Wheels not only helps seniors feed their pets, but also helps them keep their pets even though they are on limited incomes. This means that many dogs and cats can stay in their homes with loving owners and are not surrendered to shelters or put out on the street because they cannot be fed.
Interfaith Ministries is one of the more than 100 organizations that the Adams and Reese employee volunteer program, also known as HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support), donates thousands of hours and untold dollars to offer communities “hands on” activities and assistance to those less fortunate. Whether in the form of special events or participation in agency-sponsored fundraisers, Adams and Reese employees and attorneys are known throughout the region and the nation for their community action.
