The following was written about Thornton in the article:
“Thornton has been a Republican heavy-hitter not only at Legislative Plaza, but also representing clients before various regulatory agencies in Tennessee. He has many clients, but as a representative of the Tennessee Bar Association, he has the ear of key Republican leaders when it comes to the judiciary. He also has had no shortage of adventures throughout his life. He’s run the Boston Marathon and worked as a special assistant to the ambassador at the American Embassy in Paris. Clients from 2012 included: the Tennessee Bar Association, Delta Dental, Liberty Mutual, the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association and the American Heart Association.”
At Adams and Reese, Thornton serves as the Chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee and is a governmental relations attorney in the firm’s Nashville office. In 2012, Thornton was featured for the third consecutive year among Nashville Post's 2012 “In Charge” edition, featuring businesspeople and community leaders who are writing Music City’s success story by shaping Middle Tennessee’s growth, both in the spotlight and behind the scenes.
Thornton serves as legislative counsel to a number of businesses, trade associations and governmental entities with interests before the Tennessee General Assembly. In addition, he represents clients before regulatory boards and administrative agencies of local, state and federal government. He has extensive experience in the areas of education, energy, health care, insurance, technology, transportation and utilities.
Thornton was named as the highest ranked lawyer/lobbyist on the Power 100 list of influential people in Tennessee, compiled annually by Business TN®.
