Adams and Reese received the “Law Firm Diversity Award” from the National Bar Association at the annual NBA Corporate Law Section Convention, held July 29th at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, Florida. Adams and Reese Partner Alfrado Donelson, in the law firm’s Jackson office, attended the event to receive the award on the firm’s behalf.
According to the NBA, Adams and Reese was selected “because of its diversity efforts to increase the number of minority attorneys in your firm and in the legal arena. Further, Adams and Reese was Champions during the Gateway to Success Conference wherein General Counsel and Senior Counsel from major corporations participated in the conference. Your contributions towards the conference afforded members of the National Bar Association an opportunity for business development and career development. More importantly, the conference yielded Scholarships for students at historically black, Jackson State University in furtherance of their legal career development.”
Adams and Reese has received several awards for its diversity efforts across the firm. In 2012, and for the fifth consecutive year, Adams and Reese ranked among the Top 200 Law Firms in diversity according to the 2012 “Diversity Scorecard”, an annual ranking compiled by the Minority Law Journal.
In 2012, Adams and Reese was named a recipient of the “Unity Award” by Sarasota’s Biz941 Magazine. This award honored outstanding businesses, nonprofits and individuals who are leading the way in promoting, integrating and reaching racial and ethnic populations in the Sarasota region.
In 2011, Adams and Reese was named a recipient of the Corporate Counsel Women of Color® Diversity Award of Excellence, an inaugural award given by the CCWC as a recognition of the firm’s initiatives, outstanding achievement in commitment to diversity and advancement of women attorneys of color. Further being recognized for its commitment to diversity, the law firm of Adams and Reese was one of three companies being selected for the Human Resources Management Association (HRMA) Commitment to Diversity Award.
The firm has been named one of the Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity by MultiCultural Law magazine; and recognized in Women 3.0 magazine among the Top 100 Law Firms for Women.
In 2010, Adams and Reese received a “Certificate of Commendation” from the Louisiana State Bar Association. The certificate was presented to Adams and Reese for the firm's exemplification of the highest standards of professionalism in the area of diversity.
In 2009, Adams and Reese was also honored with an "Encouraging Diversity" Minority Business Award for three consecutive years by the Birmingham Business Journal, and in November 2006, by International Paper, as a recipient of their “Lighthouse Award” for the firm’s diversity initiatives and fostering diversity in the legal profession. Around that same time, the firm’s Diversity Committee launched its continuing internal “Diversity Awareness Campaign.” This campaign went on to receive a first place SELMA award in the Firm Promotional Item category at the Legal Marketing Conference held in Savannah, GA in September 2006.
