Adams and Reese Partner David Bowsher, a trustee with The Birmingham Business Alliance, joined about 50 representatives from the Alabama business community to travel to Washington DC and deliver the BBA’s 2015 Federal Legislative Agenda to lawmakers last week as an integral part of the BBA’s Washington Fly-in.
Bowsher introduced Rep. Terri Sewell during the BBA’s Washington Fly-In Ceremony. While in Washington, the group heard a political overview from executives at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and had legislative briefings with Sen. Jeff Sessions and Sen. Richard Shelby, as well as Rep. Spencer Bachus, Rep. Sewell, Rep. Mike Rogers and Rep. Robert Aderholt.
Legislative agenda topics that were discussed included the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank, over-reaching EPA and other federal agency regulations, continued support of the Northern Beltline and funding opportunities for the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Sponsoring this year’s Washington Fly-in were Alabama Power Co., which served as presenting sponsor, Balch & Bingham LLP, The Jimmie Hale Mission and Norfolk Southern.
Bowsher serves as the Partner in the Charge of the Adams and Reese Birmingham office. His practice focuses on transactions, bankruptcy and governmental relations.
