MOBILE, Ala. — Adams and Reese is pleased to announce Suntrease Williams-Maynard has joined the firm’s Mobile office as Special Counsel. Williams-Maynard joins the firm’s Government Investigations and White Collar Defense Practice, where she adds considerable depth thanks to her experience as a prosecutor who has enforced compliance with federal statutes and successfully prosecuted thousands of cases. In her broad practice, Williams-Maynard focuses on helping clients minimize the risks of litigation, respond to government investigations and develop sound programs, policies and procedures.

Prior to joining Adams and Reese, Williams-Maynard served as a trial attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in Mobile. Thanks to this experience, Williams-Maynard is well versed in labor and employment issues and federal employment discrimination statutes.

Williams-Maynard also served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Alabama and the Southern District of Texas. She joined the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) through the Attorney General Honors program being one of 10 selected nationwide to serve at the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Thanks to her experience in these roles, Williams-Maynard has worked closely with numerous federal agencies including the Border Patrol; Homeland Security Investigations; Drug Enforcement Administration; Customs and Border Protection; Federal Bureau of Investigation; U.S. Marshals Service; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Department of State and Postal Inspectors. In addition to her service to the U.S. Attorneys’ offices, Williams-Maynard is also an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force Reserve, carrying the rank of Captain.

Williams-Maynard is active in numerous civic and charitable efforts in the community and has been widely recognized for her leadership and excellence in law, public service and outreach efforts.

Williams-Maynard holds a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Human Resource Management from The Pennsylvania State University (2013), a J.D. from the North Carolina Central University School of Law (2008) and a B.A. in Sociology: Criminal Justice (2005), magna cum laude, from Shaw University.
