David Katz joined David Maimon of the Georgia State University Evidence-Based Cybersecurity Research Group for a presentation titled "IP and Cybersecurity Risks on the Dark Web and Ransomware Prevention" during the Georgia Intellectual Property Association and Atlanta Bar Association Intellectual Property Section's Corporate IP Institute on October 28.

The presenters discussed tools available to hackers on the dark web that could imperil the protection of an organization's intellectual property assets. They also examined liability issues surrounding the exposure of corporate assets to attackers and discussed whether companies could be liable under a negligence standard for failure to protect
corporate assets. Lastly, they covered best practices to address a ransomware attack and how to respond to ransomware threats.
