Adams and Reese Jackson Partner in Charge Phil Buffington accepted the Firm’s ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Ice Bucket Challenge issued last week by the firm’s Managing Partner Chuck Adams as he was doused with three buckets of water in front of the 300 Renaissance Building today in Ridgeland.
Buffington then issued the challenge to the President of CSpire, Hu Meena; the Dean of St. Andrews Cathedral, Edward O’Connor; Philip Gunn, speaker of the Mississippi House of Representatives; and his son, Phillip Buffington, Jr. The challenge was done on behalf of Team Gleason and Buffington’s late uncle, Bryson Foster, who died of ALS.
Last week, Adams and Reese Managing Partner Chuck Adams underwent the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in New Orleans, and the firm donated $1,000 to Team (Steve) Gleason and ALS. Nashville Partner Brad Lampley also accepted the firm’s challenge last Friday.
The viral and social media ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has raised more than $13 million for patients of ALS. People have shared more than 1.5 million videos on Facebook between June 1 and Aug. 19, and mentioned the phenomenon more than 2.5 million times on Twitter since July 29. Adams and Reese has long been a supporter of community organizations, such as ALS, to offer assistance to those in need.
The ALS Association is one of the more than 200 organizations that the Adams and Reese employee volunteer program, also known as HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support), donates thousands of hours and untold dollars to offer communities “hands on” activities and assistance to those less fortunate. Whether in the form of special events or participation in agency-sponsored fundraisers, Adams and Reese employees and attorneys are known throughout the region and the nation for their community action.
