Adams and Reese Pro Bono Paladin Mark Surprenant will be speaking at the upcoming Access Pro Bono 7th National Pro Bono Conference in Vancouver, October 4, 2018. Mark will serve as a panelist for the lunchtime session, "Setting the Stage for Pro Bono Counsel." This panel will focus on how nonprofit organizations can locate and entice senior counsel to do pro bono work for their clients and/or their strategic litigation interests. The panel will discuss different models for engaging senior counsel in pro bono work for nonprofit organizations. The group will also canvass how nonprofits can best support senior counsel in doing pro bono work on their behalf and discuss some of the opportunities, challenges and pitfalls typically inherent to pro bono partnerships between nonprofits and senior counsel.

In addition to representing Adams and Reese at the conference, Mark will attend as a representative of the American College of Trial Lawyers, joining with the organization's president to make a presentation on behalf of the College to its two new Canadian Access to Justice Fellows and to the two Canadian Supreme Court Justices who are serving as their sponsors.
