Neal Townsend Graduates from Leadership Mobile Class of 2018

September 10, 2018

Neal Townsend has graduated from the Leadership Mobile Class of 2018, a program by Mobile United that identifies and develops leaders from all sectors of the community who are committed to community building and civic service.

The Leadership Mobile Class of 2018 concluded its yearlong program with project presentations and graduation on September 7, 2018 at the Ben May Library. Class Dean County Commissioner Merceria Ludgood guided 44 professionals through this year’s annual program.

Neal was a member of the Leadership Mobile “Education Team,” which founded the “Gardens for Growth” Program. The program assists local youth-focus organizations in the development, construction, and implementation of an in-ground garden. The group created a “Gardens for Growth” Activity Guide to be used as an educational tool taught by staff members and completed by students throughout the school year. To date, the group has constructed gardens at the Dearborn YMCA and Scarborough Middle School with hopes of growing the program at other locations.

Graduates of Leadership Mobile make up a large network of trained leaders who hold key positions on boards of directors throughout the community and are involved in a wide variety of volunteer efforts. Alumni activities include educational forums and social events.
