Industries are becoming aware that gaining gender equality isn’t about playing a numbers game, but rather about developing a supportive framework that will attract and keep women in the field by providing paths that can lead to growth and success.

Susan Eccles joined a September 16 Women in Drones panel discussion at the 2020 Commercial UAV Expo Americas that discussed what it means to support women in this space, and what that support actually looks like. Susan and her fellow panelists discussed how companies and government agencies are starting to explore issues of gender equality in the drone world as they put a priority on diversifying their workforce, often tying those results to funding and salaries.

The discussion discussed how to not only attract more women into the drone field but also to support and give women opportunities to thrive. Presenters offered concrete ways industry leaders and individuals can support, inspire, and attract more women to the industry and help them to be successful in diverse roles.
