Karime Barry, CIPP/US, works on behalf of clients in real estate and corporate transactional matters. Additionally, Karime helps a variety of types of businesses with real estate transactions, from banks and lenders, with mixed-use developments, multifamily developments and single-family developments.
She also represents foreign and domestic timberland fund investment managers and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), assisting with a variety of transactions to close deals and lead due diligence. Karime’s background in real estate transactions for the forestry industry informs her work drafting, reviewing and negotiating timberland investment management agreements and ancillary agreements.
In addition to her real estate transactional practice, Karime’s vast financial services and trade experience benefits her clients. She is keenly aware of cybersecurity and data privacy risks and concerns of these types of businesses in an ever-digital global marketplace. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States, Karime has achieved a key industry benchmark for privacy and data protection. The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) designation, a certification program accredited by ANSI/ISO, demonstrates the depth and breadth of Karime’s understanding of privacy laws and regulations.
Karime has previously served as an attorney and head of the Trade Department of the Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta. She headed legal matters encompassing contract, immigration and real estate law, and assisted U.S. companies with business operations in Brazil. Karime has prior experience working as a corporate lawyer for several years in Brazil.
