Michelle Chatelain Fullmer

An intellectual property litigator needs to possess many qualities beyond a technical mindset, including stellar communication skills, detail orientation, a knack for creative thinking and the ability to process a great deal of information. I bring these things to every matter I handle for my clients.

Michelle Fullmer centers her practice on patent and trademark litigation as well as prosecution, counseling on a wide range of patent, trademark and copyright issues.

Michelle advises clients in all stages of intellectual property litigation, including evaluating preliminary infringement and invalidity positions, developing substantive submissions to the district court and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and coordinating case strategy with expert witnesses for trial.

In addition, Michelle defends applications for intellectual property in the USPTO and under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, including drafting patent applications, conducting hearings with Examiners and presenting formal responses to the USPTO during prosecution to secure issuance of patents and trademarks.

Drawing on her scientific education, Michelle brings an in-depth understanding of complex and technical concepts to her clients’ matters, which clients value. She also knows how to synthesize those concepts and clearly communicate them so that people without a technical background can understand them as well.

Michelle previously served as an extern for the Honorable Jay C. Zainey of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Her community service contributions include pro bono work for Entertainment Law Legal Assistance and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
